How I Built This by Guy Raz

Onsando Reads:-

Book: How I Built This: The Unexpected Paths To Success From The World's Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs

Author: Guy Raz

Hi. I am Onsando, and I normally write summaries and reviews on books in multiple genres. Today, let's talk How I Built This.

A former journalist turned podcaster, Guy Raz tells tales of entrepreneurs who built their businesses from scratch.

If you love audiobooks, then you have 10 hours of pure and free business course that no Ivy League college can ever teach. The lessons taught in the book are the struggles, joys, and tears of men and women who took the straight and narrow path of entrepreneurship and emerged on the other side triumphantly.

You might never have heard of a cosmetic company known as Carol's Daughter or the energy bar RXBar. But the respective founders, Lisa Price and Peter Rahal, through hard work and some form of luck, later on sold their companies to L'Oreal and Kellogs for hundreds of millions of dollars.

Granted, not all founders were as lucky, but you could see the common theme in all.... GRIT.

Ideas happen when you are actively moving and searching

Just to mention on a chapter in the book concerning funding, Guy gives three ideas on funding a business.... Bootstrapping, Other people's money (OPM) and professional money all with examples of business enterprises that have successfully followed such modes of funding.

A similar book I'd recommend is Business Wars by David Brown.

Go Higher by Big Sean

Go Higher: Five Practices For Purpose, Success, and Inner Peace

Author: Sean 'Big Sean' Anderson

Hi. Am Onsando and I usually write  summaries and reviews on books in multiple genres. Today, let's talk Go Higher.

Just like any other memoir, Big Sean narrates his life living with his brother, mother, and grandmother in Detroit to achieving big in his music career.

In this book, he discusses the five practices he observes in his life to balance his career, lifestyle choices, friendships, and relationships among others.

The five points are: Accept, Strategise, Try, Trust, and Manifest.

In manifest, for instance, he advices that you start attracting the right people in your life when you are intentional with your energy.

Life will test you, when you get past that....It's testimony

If you are familiar with the works of  Steve Harvey, Rhonda Byrne, Deepak Chopra, and Ken Honda, well here is another one for you. Another book to emphasize your beliefs and practices that keep you going if you fall off the bandwagon.

At the end of every chapter, Big Sean shares quotes and questions to motivate and query yourself in order to encourage and give oneself a path towards becoming a better being.
