How I Built This by Guy Raz

Onsando Reads:-

Book: How I Built This: The Unexpected Paths To Success From The World's Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs

Author: Guy Raz

Hi. I am Onsando, and I normally write summaries and reviews on books in multiple genres. Today, let's talk How I Built This.

A former journalist turned podcaster, Guy Raz tells tales of entrepreneurs who built their businesses from scratch.

If you love audiobooks, then you have 10 hours of pure and free business course that no Ivy League college can ever teach. The lessons taught in the book are the struggles, joys, and tears of men and women who took the straight and narrow path of entrepreneurship and emerged on the other side triumphantly.

You might never have heard of a cosmetic company known as Carol's Daughter or the energy bar RXBar. But the respective founders, Lisa Price and Peter Rahal, through hard work and some form of luck, later on sold their companies to L'Oreal and Kellogs for hundreds of millions of dollars.

Granted, not all founders were as lucky, but you could see the common theme in all.... GRIT.

Ideas happen when you are actively moving and searching

Just to mention on a chapter in the book concerning funding, Guy gives three ideas on funding a business.... Bootstrapping, Other people's money (OPM) and professional money all with examples of business enterprises that have successfully followed such modes of funding.

A similar book I'd recommend is Business Wars by David Brown.
